Everything we do is downstream of that single question. This is a community for the people asking it. And the people who have answered it before.
Mission
We help students, graduates and career changers find out who they are and where they fit, with guidance from people who’ve been there.
Vision
A Nigeria where every young person leaves school knowing their strengths, with someone in their corner for the big decisions.
Promise
For everyone starting out or starting again, a guide who has been there. For every mentor, someone worth showing up for.
How it started
The guidance we wish we’d had at university.
Years after university, I went through leadership training at the Afterschool Graduate Development Centre (AGDC). It changed how I saw my work, my choices and myself.
And I kept thinking about my undergraduate years. That guidance would have helped me most back then: knowing what I was good at, which careers fit it, and which mistakes to avoid. I learned those things eventually. Most people do. Just later than they needed to.
So in 2013, I ran a small career event for young people at Ijaiye Medium Housing Estate in Agege, Lagos. That was the start of Who I Go Be. The name is Nigerian Pidgin for “who will I become?” It’s the question every young person asks, and too few get help answering.

What we do
People who have been there, helping people on their way.
Who I Go Be is a career, leadership and entrepreneurship programme for secondary school students, university students, young graduates and people changing careers. We put people with experience in the same room as people just starting out, or starting again. They share what worked, and just as important, what didn’t.
Mentoring
Find a mentor who has been where you’re going, and ask the questions you can’t ask anyone else.
Career advice
Talk through your options with someone who knows the field, whether you’re choosing a course, a first job or a new direction.
Leadership and entrepreneurship
Practical sessions on leading people and building something of your own.
Wellbeing
Honest talks on mental health and the risks of drug and substance abuse, with people who know the subject.
Events
We’ve run events in Lagos since 2013: from a career event at a community estate in Agege to a 2025 visit to African Church College, Ifako, with a representative of the NDLEA Lagos State Command, speaking to students and teachers about mental health and substance abuse.

What we hope to achieve
Guidance that arrives on time.
We want every young person to leave school or university knowing their strengths, and with someone to call when the big decisions come. In time, we want to change how young people are prepared for work: working with schools on career guidance, helping shape what the curriculum teaches about careers and leadership, and sharing what we learn with the people who make education policy.
