Terms

The rules of the room.

These terms govern your use of Who I Go Be. We've kept them as short as we honestly can. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them.

01

Acceptance & eligibility

These terms form a binding agreement between you and Who I Go Be (“we”, “us”). By accessing or using the platform you confirm that:

  • You are at least 18 years old.
  • You have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement.
  • You are not barred from using the service under any applicable law.
  • The information you provide is accurate and you will keep it up to date.

If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the service.

02

Your account

You are responsible for everything that happens under your account. That means:

  • Keeping your password (or Google account) secure.
  • Notifying us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.
  • Maintaining only one account per person.
  • Providing real information: no impersonation, no fake profiles.
03

The service

Who I Go Be helps Nigerian mentors and mentees find one another, hosts community events, and publishes a podcast. We are a platform (a connector), not an employer, recruiter, agency, or licensing body.

We may add, change, or remove features at any time. We will try to give reasonable notice for changes that materially reduce the service.

04

Mentorship disclaimer

Mentors on Who I Go Be are community members sharing their personal experience. They are not acting as licensed professional advisors, and the platform does not vet professional credentials.

Nothing said in a mentorship conversation, on this site, in our events, or in our podcast constitutes legal, medical, financial, tax, or any other professional advice. If you need that, consult a qualified professional.

Joining the platform creates no employment, agency, partnership, or fiduciary relationship between you and us, or between mentors and mentees.

05

Your content

You own what you write and upload: your profile, photo, bio, skills, and messages. By posting it on Who I Go Be you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, and distribute it on the platform for the purpose of running the service.

You promise that you have the right to share whatever you upload, and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights. You can delete your content (or your account) at any time; some copies may persist in backups for a short period (see our Privacy Policy for the exact schedule).

06

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Harass, threaten, demean, or discriminate against any user.
  • Post unlawful, defamatory, sexually explicit, or hateful content.
  • Impersonate anyone, or misrepresent your skills, role, or experience.
  • Spam mentors, send unsolicited commercial messages, or recruit users off-platform.
  • Scrape, crawl, or copy the platform's data without our written permission.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or otherwise attempt to extract our source code.
  • Probe, test, or breach our security, or interfere with the service's operation.
  • Share another user's contact details (revealed after a match is accepted) with anyone outside that match without their consent.
  • Use the service for anything illegal under Nigerian or applicable foreign law.
07

Suspension & termination

We can suspend or close an account at any time if we believe these terms have been broken, if required by law, or if the account poses a risk to the community.

You can close your account at any time from your profile page or by emailing hello@whoigobe.com. The terms that by their nature should survive termination (ownership, disclaimers, liability, governing law) will continue to apply after your account is closed.

08

Third-party services

The service may include links or embeds from third parties, such as Google sign-in, external RSVP pages for events, and podcast players hosted by Buzzsprout, Spotify, or similar.

We are not responsible for those services. Your use of them is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

09

Our intellectual property

The Who I Go Be name, logo, brand system, software, and content we create are our intellectual property. You may not copy, modify, or use them without our written permission, except as needed to use the service normally.

10

Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.

We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure; that any mentor is qualified or available; or that any match will lead to a particular outcome.

11

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither we nor our affiliates, directors, employees, or service providers will be liable for:

  • Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
  • Loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, data, or business opportunities.
  • The conduct of any mentor, mentee, or third party, including anything that happens outside the platform.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or your use of the service is limited to the greater of (a) ₦10,000 or (b) the amount you have paid us in the twelve (12) months before the claim arose. The service is free, so in most cases this limit will be ₦10,000.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under Nigerian law.

12

Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold us harmless against any claim, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:

  • Your breach of these terms.
  • Content you post on the platform.
  • Your interactions with other users on or off the platform.
  • Your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.
13

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, without regard to its conflict of laws principles.

14

Dispute resolution

We'd much rather solve things by email than in court. If you have a complaint, please write to hello@whoigobe.com first and give us 30 days to make it right.

If we cannot resolve a dispute informally, it will be settled by arbitration in Lagos, Nigeria, under the Arbitration and Mediation Act 2023, by a single arbitrator. The language of arbitration will be English. Each party bears its own costs unless the arbitrator decides otherwise.

Notwithstanding the above, either party may bring an action in the courts of Lagos State, Nigeria for injunctive or equitable relief, or to enforce an arbitral award.

15

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service or the law changes. If we make a material change, we will update the “Last updated” date above and notify you by email or in-app notice. Continued use of the service after the change takes effect means you accept the new terms.
